- Automated Monitoring and Control:
Implement systems for automatically tracking visa expirations and flagging violations.
- Streamlined Issuance of Deportation Orders:
Introduce automatic deportation orders immediately after visa expiration to prevent abuse of the asylum system.
- Priority Applications:
Focus resources on cases related to national security, organized crime, and crimes against humanity.
- Expansion of Work Permit Programs:
Increase the capacity of provincial programs to extend work permits for migrants awaiting permanent residency status.
- Efficient Processing of Asylum Applications:
Accelerate the processing of asylum claims to reduce the backlog and ensure timely decisions.
Personally, I don’t see the most critical solution here: simplifying the PR application process for those already living and working in Canada. Allow people to stay here legally—it would immediately reduce the demand for asylum and curb misuse of the system. Seriously, what’s the problem?
At the same time, pause immigration from outside Canada for a year or two. During that time, people already here could obtain PR, and applications could be processed more quickly.
Well, let’s wait and see…
