TRP or Work Permit? Or maybe BOTH?

TRP or Work Permit? Or maybe BOTH?

TRP or Work Permit? Or maybe BOTH?

A story from practice

What to do if the client's Ukrainian passport is expiring, the alternative document is also invalid, and there is simply no other way to confirm identity?

It would seem that there is no way out. We decided to submit a TRP (Temporary Resident Permit) - after all, there is no valid passport and it is impossible to replace it with another main identity document.

Months have passed. The TRP is being considered for a long time. And we are already facing the expiration of the Work Permit. There are no decisions made. So what to do? The client loses the opportunity to continue working.

Here we decided to make a "clever move".

We applied for an extension of the Work Permit, knowing in advance that the chances were minimal. The package was supplemented with bunch of new humanitarian factors, explanations and details, as well as facts from the application for TRP.

And then there was a surprise.

TRP never gave an answer (and thank God, I really don't like TRP).

And Work Permit was approved!

Thus, the client without a passport, but with a well-constructed argumentation, received a work permit, avoided a complicated process with TRP and is now calmly making plans to apply for permanent residence.

Conclusion? Sometimes an unconventional approach works better than a direct path. The main thing to pay attention to is arguments, strategy and understanding how the system works.

Happy Friday everyone!
