Once again, on the agenda is Prime Minister Trudeau’s close friend—Marc Miller, the Minister of Immigration, former Minister of Veterans Affairs (a department he famously brought to collapse and left in near scandal, only to take on his current role—perhaps with the aim of dismantling everything here too).
Not long after the minister faced backlash for attacking the consultants’ association (which promptly highlighted his almost laughable lack of competence), he announced yesterday that he plans to remove points for job offers supported by an LMIA (which currently award 50–200 points in the Express Entry system). He justifies this move by claiming that job offers are often "fake" and that eliminating them will help combat corruption .
This change would make receiving an invitation through Express Entry almost impossible. Our "brilliant" and "visionary" minister wants to remove these points for job offers but has no plans to lower the Express Entry cut-off score… Why bother, right?
After all, when you’re the best friend of Canada’s Prime Minister, you can do whatever you want???
