Let’s break it down
First, I want to clarify that I explained everything in detail in my video post, and here I will try to summarize it briefly and concisely.
The Humanitarian Program consists of two parts:
- Humanitarian exemption (this is similar to a provincial nomination)
- Applying for PR after receiving the humanitarian exemption
Can you apply without a passport?
You can apply for the humanitarian program even if you do not have legal status and even without a valid passport.
However, it is important to note:
- PR through the humanitarian program can only be obtained if you have status and a valid identity document.
- Receiving a humanitarian exemption serves as a basis for restoring status in Canada (if, for example, you were previously out of status).
- Status is linked to and restored based on a VALID document.
