Today, the federal government invited 4,000 people to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class program for skilled workers.
Candidates needed to have a profile score of 509 points or higher (still quite high, although it's encouraging that the score is slowly going down). Such a score can be achieved by a candidate with higher education, at least one year of Canadian work experience, a minimum of three years of work experience in their home country, and a high proficiency in language skills.
In addition, the province of Ontario also invited 1,421 people to apply for provincial nomination. They selected specific specialists (103 occupations in total) with scores ranging from 505 to 528, and these invitations included all applicants, regardless of whether they had Canadian work experience.
Specialists were invited in the following fields:
- Management and administration: construction, finance, HR, procurement, advertising, and sales managers; property administrators, executive assistants.
- Finance and accounting: accountants, financial analysts, auditors, payroll administrators.
- Human resources and consulting: HR specialists, recruiters, business management consultants.
- Engineering and technology: civil, mechanical, electrical engineers; technologists and technicians in engineering, construction, and electrical fields.
- Education and social services: professors, teachers, social workers, education management specialists.
- Healthcare and social services: healthcare managers, health information management specialists.
- Media and arts: graphic designers, producers, directors, media and film specialists.
- Agriculture and natural resources: managers in agriculture, fisheries, forestry; supervisors in the mining industry.
- Law: legal assistants, assessors, insurance agents.
