Pay attention to the IMMIgreat Initiative
This is a regional immigration program that is not part of the standard provincial draws.
IMMIgreat is a temporary immigration program created by the Manitoba Department of Labour and Immigration in collaboration with municipalities in the West-Central region. It aims to address labor shortages in these communities.
The program includes 8 municipalities and one Indigenous community:
- Russell-Binscarth (Binscarth, Harrowby, Johnson, Millwood, Russel)
- Riding Mountain West (Angusville, Cracknell, Dropmore, Endcliffe, Inglis, Lennard, Petlura, Shellmouth, Silverton)
- Yellowhead (Elphinstone, Oakburn, Shoal Lake, Strathclair)
- Rossburn (Birdtail, Olha, Rossburn, Vista)
- Roblin
- Prairie View (Arrow River, Beulah, Birtle, Crandall, Foxwarren, Isabella, Miniota, Quadra, Reeder, Solsgirth, Uno)
- Ellice-Archie (Chillon, Manson, McAuley, St. Lazare, Ste. Madeleine, Victor, Wattsview, Willen)
- Gambler First Nation (Indigenous community)
Additionally, Manitoba is also developing other regional immigration initiatives:
Winkler-Stanley, Morden, and Parkland Region (Churchill, Pinawa) – however, some of these programs have already been closed.
Please note that these programs are difficult to find since they are NOT compiled on a single website, so they must be searched for manually.
Candidate requirements may vary in each community, so it is important to carefully review the eligibility criteria on their official websites before applying.
If you want to simplify your pathway to PR, such local programs can be a great opportunity to obtain a nomination with less competition, especially considering that Manitoba has barely invited workers from within the province to apply for nominations throughout the past year.
