The Canadian Immigration Ministry invited 1,800 people in October under the trades category, with Express Entry scores starting from 433. This is the first trades-specific draw since July of this year, when the minimum score was slightly higher at 436.
Such trades-specific draws are rare. The professions included in this draw are: elevator installers and constructors, mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and welders. These professions typically require licensing in Canada. However, an apprentice license and work experience as a journeyperson are also recognized as valuable Canadian experience. These professions are often linked to construction and other technical fields requiring formal qualifications.
Specialists in these areas often need to complete specialized training or apprenticeships. Achieving a score of 433 in Express Entry indicates a good command of English, Canadian work experience, and an age under 32. However, even if a candidate loses points due to age or lack of Canadian work experience, they can compensate with a high level of education, which helps boost their overall score.
